Video tapes and film hold memories that are priceless, but over time, both formats naturally deteriorate. Magnetic tapes can suffer binder hydrolysis (also called “sticky-shed syndrome”), while film can develop acidic decay (“vinegar syndrome”). Eventually, both may become unplayable. How quickly this happens depends on storage conditions, humidity, and of course the age of the equipment needed to play them.
Converting your old tapes and films to digital format ensures your memories are safe for generations. Once digitized, it’s easy to create multiple copies to share with friends and family, so your cherished moments are never lost.
How Can We Help?
We convert all consumer video formats, from VHS to camcorder tapes, and scan film frame by frame for the best possible quality and in many cases, film scans can be enhanced.
We’ve been transferring videos and scanning film for New Zealand families and media companies since 1999. Our team is passionate about their work and bring decades of experience to every project.
Film to Digital
We use MovieStuff film scanners, custom-built in the USA, to capture every frame with brilliant clarity. Each reel is first cleaned with electrostatic brushes to remove dust, then gently hand-cleaned with fine cotton swabs to eliminate mould and other surface contaminants.
Every frame is scanned to create a sequence of high-resolution images. These are then assembled into a digital film and transferred to our video suite for colour grading and cosmetic edits, we correct exposure, balance colour, and bring your footage back to life.

Video to Digital
Videos are captured using broadcast-quality hardware. We provide two sets of files: ProRes 422 master files, perfect for long-term preservation and MP4 viewing files, ideal for watching on computers, smart TVs, and sharing with family. Files are supplied on a hard drive or you can supply your own.
You’ll also receive a secure cloud link so you can easily share your videos with friends and family anywhere in the world.

We offer a convenient nationwide courier service, or you can drop off and collect your items in person at our Birkenhead, Auckland studios — no appointment needed. We’re open Monday to Friday and happy to help with any questions.
